Artist Statement: This part of the book and specifically the text above made me think about the Spaniards encounter with the Aztecs and the reasons for why they came to the New World. They were looking for treasure, and gold. I decided to decorate three silver spoons with jewels that are supposed to symbolize the treasure/gold. the Spaniards were looking for.
