For the thirty minute installation I wanted to to do something small that complimented the space. I decided to have color be my main focus, I work a lot with yarn and other materials so I used different colored thread for this installation. I color coordinated the threads and started arranging them into different words. At first I came up with the word "tear" I thought this would be a clever play on words since thread is used to sew up tears in clothes. However, after some thought I decided the word itself was to basic. I made a list of potential words I could use.
List of words: - tear
- renew
- helm
- restore
- stitch
- seam
- mend
Laura, had originally suggested the word mend to me, and after coming up with a list of words it seemed to hold the most meaning and significance. Whenever, someone goes to sew a pair of pants their mending a tear or rip. This could be a metaphor for life. Whenever, someone's life seems to be falling apart they half to find the glue that pieces everything back together. For this installation that "glue" is the thread. The significance of color symbolizes emotions and individuality. Not every person is the same and everyone needs their own color to mend themselves or their life.

The placement of this installation is above the color theory poster, The thread perfectly dangles above it. I also decided to add denim as a material because it's normally associated with being a rough and durable material, but here it has been torn
