This week instead of embarking on a new project I wanted to go back and finish up some long term/ongoing projects. I still needed to finish my wood burning. The raccoon still needed its head and tail filled in. the background flowers also needed to be shaded and colored.

Almost done, still need to add the wood stain and finish some of the flowers.

In process close up

Finished piece, I didn't want to color all the flowers because i though it'd be to much

Finished, detail
Awhile ago I came across some tree stumps. I wanted to use one and incorperate it into this piece however, now that this piece is done I don't think anything should be added to it. I still like the idea of using a stump though, but as it's own separate piece. I looked up "tree stump art" and came across a very interesting artist. I found Alison Moritsugu, a Hawaiian, artist who paints nature landscapes on tree trunks.

I don't want to paint the same exact images as she does. But I think this idea is way better than what I originally had for the stump. I need to first sand the surface so it can be painted on. I expect to have this in next week so we can look at it with my wood burning.
