This week I continued to work on more clay wall pieces. My inspiration for them is still the same. Below are some of the photo's of Vanessa Hogge's work, the same women I posted about two weeks ago.

I was inspired by the size of these flowers/petals. I wanted to combine both big and small together.

I also looked up photo's of real flower petals. I like this image because each petal has curling edges and they are irregular shapes. They're a lot different then the petals done in clay because they look more natural and organic. I wanted to make the clay look more natural as well.

I started off by doing three big flowers straight down the middle.

I then added smaller petals that cascade down both sides. Each one overlaps each other.

I combined all three photo's into one. Once I finished, I hung it on the wall. I like the overall symmetry of the piece, which is emphasized by the two cascading petals on each side.

My plan moving forward is to create two smaller wall pieces that just have the small petals overlapping each other. I think it would make a nice addition to this piece, being the main focus. I plan to fire this in the kiln on monday and glaze in next week as well. At that point I will have started the to other pieces and they will be in the process of drying.
